What is Hands On Physical Therapy

The most effective and evidence-based methods for physical therapy treatment are hands on physical therapy or manual therapy techniques. Soft tissue pathology plays a primary role in limiting mobility, often resulting in profound loss of function for those injuries. Hands on treatment could involve any of the following techniques to help resolve soft tissue pathologies as well as joint mobility limitations including: soft tissue mobilization, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) (similar to Graston), joint mobilizations, trigger point release with active movement (similar to active release technique), manual distraction, or stretching. Dr. Jennifer is a Maitland Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) and performs hands on, manual physical therapy treatment on each individual specific to their needs.
