What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the science of treating the cause of disease or pain by healing dysfunction in the spine or extremity. Whether this is being caused by nerve, disc, muscle or joint, chiropractic allows homeostasis and full nerve energy from the brain to all parts of the body.
Adjustments or manipulation are minor movements of the spine or extremities which restore motion due to joint dysfunction with a quick high velocity movement. There is often a “cracking”sound similar to cracking of your knuckles which is usually pain free. This is due to release of gases within the joint. When the body is free of dysfunction it allows our bodies to function optimally This is well documented in current literature and has proven benefits.
As many of us know, pregnancy can be a very uncomfortable experience as a female’s body goes through many physiological changes and in result can cause pain/discomfort. This is a technique known to help with breached babies. It can be used as early as the 8th month of pregnancy to help with intrauterine constraint. The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics reported an 82% success rate of babies turning vertex when Webster Technique was used. Regular chiropractic care during pregnancy may also help to manage pain throughout pregnancies and lessen your chances of dystocia. It should be noted, there are no known contraindications of chiropractic care during pregnancy!

MUSCLE ENERGY TECHNIQUE
For those who are hesitant about the “cracking” sound, this is a type of low velocity manipulation or adjustment which does not involve this sound. It is proven just as effective through a care plan as compared to high velocity adjustments. It is used with common conditions such as joint dysfunction in the spine also.
There are different causes of vertigo, but the most common cause of vertigo is otoconia or “ear rocks” in the semicircular canal. These can cause spontaneous and erroneous firing of the sensory neurons within the canal. When this happens, it is out of sync with the cerebellum and visual centers (vestibular system). This can cause misinformation and communication in the vestibular system resulting in vertigo (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)). We offer a technique which has been proven to be effective about 80% of the time in treatment for this type of vertigo. Depending on your symptoms, we also treat another common type of vertigo called cervicogenic vertigo.
This is a specific technique used for certain conditions which effect the nerve or nerve root. This attempts to free the nerve or nerve root from adhesions and allowing for proper movement and function of the nervous system. There is much evidence which supports the effectiveness of the technique and can specifically address certain pain generators.
Kinesiotaping gives support while maintaining full range of motion and is now considered the gold standard in the therapeutic and rehabilitative world. It can provide functional assistance, prevent the overuse of certain musclulature, or provide lymph facilitation in acute injuries. This is a safe and effective method and provides 24 hour treatment daily.
THERAPEUTIC EXERCISE/ REHABILITATION
Therapeutic exercise plays a vital role in protection of the spine and prevention of other injuries. Current research suggests therapeutic exercise is the missing link in avoiding recurrent injuries. Benefits of exercise are endless, including higher energy levels, reduced risk of cancer and heart disease, improving physical capacity, reduced stress, etc. Core stabilization and strengthening important muscles such as deep spinal musculature play an important role in decreasing pain and treating the cause of the condition. We also have the aptitude to treat sports related injuries with state of the art therapeutic modalities, a designated rehabilitation room, stretching techniques and adequate training with extremities.
Modalities such as ultrasound, STIM, and interferential current will be used to address all types of musculoskeletal conditions to aid in the healing process. These all help to facilitate the body’s ability to heal itself.
This is a proven therapeutic agent in reducing swelling and pain and aids in the healing process. This is very simple, effective, and inexpensive way to help many conditions. There a few different techniques used depending on each complaint.
