What is Advanced Physical Therapy

Advanced Physical Therapy is treatment provided by a therapist with advanced knowledge, clinical skills and training who also utilizes the most efficient and evidence based treatment methods. Jennifer Stasko, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and has advanced and specialized clinical skills. She is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in her field which means she has knowledge, skill, and experience exceeding that of the entry level physical therapist and unique to outpatient orthopedics. She is also a Maitland-Australian Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT). The Maitland Approach is a world-renowned, highly effective, gentle approach to the management of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Stasko is one of less than two percent of physical therapists practicing in the U.S. and fewer than 60 therapists in North Carolina with this distinction. Her inspiration for hands on, manual therapy came from her last clinical internship where she had the privilege to study abroad in Canberra, Australia. While in Australia, Jennifer treated the Canberra Brumbies (Rugby Union) and Canberra Raiders (Rugby League) Teams (comparable to the NFL in the USA). She uses this advanced knowledge, clinical skills and training to provide advanced physical therapy for optimal treatment and recovery for each individual patient.

Dr. Jennifer Stasko is able to perform advanced physical therapy due to way she has set up her schedule. She spends one on one time with patients performing hands on evidence-based treatment specialized for each individual patient. Not only does she perform one on one, hands on, manual physical therapy treatment sessions but she will be the same therapist the patient will see for the duration of their treatment. She uses evidence-based methods and techniques to provide the most efficient and advanced physical therapy treatment to provide the quickest recovery possible for her patients.

Dr. Stasko is very motivated to continue her learning to provide the best therapy possible for each patient she treats. One of her inspirations comes from Albert Einstein’s when he said; “Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death.” She has also been inspired by Brian Tracy who stated; “Those people who develop the ability to continuously acquire new and better forms of knowledge that they can apply to their work and to their lives will be the movers and shakers in our society for the indefinite future.”
These quotes have motivated Jennifer to remain a life-long student where she is always learning new and better treatment methods in the realm of physical therapy to provide the best care to her patients. Her goal is to make sure that every patient gets the most efficient evidence-based techniques, methods, and treatment. Choosing to see a therapist with advanced credentials allows for you to have the most effective recovery from your injury and pain.
